Hello everyone,
I hope your week has been going good.
Time for another skincare post that I hope you all will enjoy. Today I am going to discuss Glycolic Acid and it's supposed benefits for the skin.
Glycolic Acid has been quite the rage in the skincare world recently and for good reason; Glycolic Acid is considered to be a chemical exfoliant for the skin. In simpler terms, it basically means that it is supposed to slough away dead skin, in a similar way to a exfoliating scrub, and reveal newer skin underneath.
While all this sounds amazing, we have to keep in mind that Glycolic Acid is a chemical and putting it on your skin can cause irritation, which is why most skincare mavens recommend starting with a very low percent and building tolerance.
Recently I tested out a more natural Glycolic Acid treatment from the brand Andalou Naturals to see if it works just as well as some higher potency Glycolic treatment.

Product Info: I purchased this mask from my local Organic store and it was around $15.00.
How To Use It: As any mask, you apply this all over your face, leave on for 10 minutes, and rinse off. You can use this mask up to three times a week.
Overall: This mask is really gentle and you can barely feel the Glycolic Acid which I don't know is such a good thing. The scent is amazing because of the pumpkin. The mask also contains Vitamin C which is said to brighten skin and I can notice a bit of a difference.
Now, using Glycolic Acid can help the skin long term but you need to gradually increase the percent you use for it to continue making a difference in your skin's appearance and this is a good product to start with building your tolerance. I have tried Glycolic Acid before so I think this is a little too light for my skin but for someone trying Glycolic for the first time would benefit from this product.
If you are in the market for a more rigorous Glycolic Acid, try a daily toner with a bit of Glycolic Acid in it, like the Perricone Firming Facial Toner which is a little more intensive of a treatment.
I am also trying out a newer much more intensive Glycolic Acid toner which I will review in the future.
I hope this post was helpful for you and maybe you learned a bit more about Glycolic Acid. If you have tried Gycolic Acid before definitely let me know in the comments about your experience and which products you enjoy.
Until next time...
-Cate W.
