What I've Been Loving Quarterly: Spring 2014 Favourites

So it's time for my favourite for the past few months. I haven't had a whole lot of favourites these past few months but I do have a few things that I have been relying on that I would like to share with you.

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Tea Rose
I have heard so many great things about NYX glosses but it's just one of those things that I have never picked up. Does that ever happen to you? Well I finally decided to pick up one and I must say I love the formulation. They are super pigmented and not too sticky which is the perfect gloss.

Maybelline Colour Elixir in Intoxicating Spice
For some reason I have been into glosses lately and this one is amazing. It is like a lipstick/gloss/stain which means it gives you that extra shine with the staying power of a stain and the moisturization of a smooth lipstick. A win win in my books.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes - Night Calming
These are pretty much my favourite wipes I have ever found at the drugstore. They have a very pleasant scent. They are moist but not too wet (I find the hydrating ones by Neutrogena are a little too wet). They also do a great job at removing makeup before I go in with my cleanser.
*I never use makeup removing wipes alone. I always use them before cleansing my face to get the most makeup off. Wipes should not be used to get all your makeup off, it just doesn't work.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel
I talked about this cleanser in my Wish List post and I finally picked up the giant 400ml bottle. This is a product that I have rediscovered. I had it in my collection but pushed it aside to try other cleansers (I am a self confessed cleanser addict, ask Meg) but once I gave this another go I realized just how clear my skin was staying. If you didn't know, last year around this time I was experiencing the worst breakouts I had ever had and that is when I decided to start blogging regularly because I wanted to share my experiences with products. Anyways, I thought I would have awful breakouts this year again but I think that due to this face wash and using my Clarisonic regularly, I have managed to evade giant breakout sessions thus far.

St. Ives Timeless Skin Mineral Clay Firming Mask
This is the other product that I believe is keeping my skin clear. Clay Masks are great for drawing out impurities and keeping your skin spot free. I also love that this product is on the cheaper side and you get a whole lot of mask for the price.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum in Oil
So this is a fairly recent purchase for me but I am loving it so far. I love oils for the night time, even in the summer and this one is not too thick so it absorbs really well into the skin and I wake up with hydrated and glowy skin.

The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub
The first time I used this product in the shower I forgot after I got out and as I was putting lotion on my arms I was wondering why they were so much smoother. This scrub is gritty but not too gritty because it is hydrating at the same time. Scrubs are great for summer, especially since we tend to bare more skin and want everything looking and feeling silky smooth.

Lush Porridge Soap
This soap is supposed to be scrubby but for sensitive skin and I would say that is true. I often get red after using a scrub but I don't with this. The scent is also subtle and pleasing.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
I absolutely loved this book. It is one of those hauntingly brilliant novels with a lot of mystery and suspense that will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happened to Amy Dunne. Meg even did a review that you can check out here. I also can't wait for the movie that comes out later in the year.

Gaiam Twig Printed Yoga Mat
Having a Yoga mat is always really handy whether you do Yoga or not (I do a bit); it is always good for doing your pre and post workout stretches or even other exercised like Pilates and Gaiam makes some really great quality, yet affordable Yoga mats, you can find them at most Target's.

Make sure to let me know what products you have been loving this past Spring.

  1. I see a few on that list that I'll have to try, especially the The Body Shop Vitamin E Overnight Serum in Oil. Thanks for keeping your blog readers in the know.

    1. Yes I love that oil and I have heard it is comparable to the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Oil which is a bit pricier. I want to eventually try that and compare the two!
Thanks for your sweet comment Marnie!
