Winter Blues: Skincare Survival

Winter is here and that means cold weather and dry skin. Let’s take a minute to wallow in this sadness shall we?

Okay moment over because today I am going to share with your some items that will leave your skin hydrated throughout the entire winter season.

If you haven’t checked out my last post it is my entire skincare routine and you can see it here. That post has a complete list of products I have been using for the past few months but during the winter time I sometimes experience extreme dryness and I often change up a few products during the colder months in order to adapt.

Hopefully this post helps you and maybe these products will help you as we trek on into winter.

*As always, clicking on pictures will bring you to links to websites with more info about the products as well as purchasing info.

Body

Nivea Extra Nourishing Milk

This stuff is for extreme dry skin and it works phenomenally. It takes a little bit of extra time to blend in and absorb because it is a thicker formula but it works so wonderfully and your dry knees and elbows will thank you.

Nivea Smooth Replenishing Lotion

This is for dry skin as well but not as extreme as the one mentioned above so if you’re skin is feeling drier this winter but not painful, check this stuff out. It absorbs faster than the other one but still does the trick.

Face

Pond’s Cold Cream

I switch to using cold cream to remove my makeup during the winter because it is more hydrating than a wipe or a micellar water. Also I heard Marilyn Monroe used to be a fan and that women from that time period used it religiously so why not? And you don’t need to spend big bucks for a name brand cold cream because Pond’s does a great job.

Benefit Total Moisture Face Cream

I mentioned this in my Skincare Routine as well  and I am continuing to use it because it works and it really is very hydrating and I know fragrance is unnecessary in skincare but this smells divine.

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion

This stuff I have talked about before in my TagQuestions to Get to Know Me Better  post as my favourite moisturizer of all time and it still is. If ever I am experiencing irritation and redness caused by dry skin this is the one I go to.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Mineral Balm
*Could not find an online shopping link for this item. Have heard rumours it may be discontinued (bummer) but I did find it in Canada (recently) at my local Shopper's Drug Mart.
UPDATE: Vichy tweeted me and reassured that this moisturizer is not going to be discontinued so go out and get some if you have dry skin!!!

Recently, my skin has been having these gross and awful dry spots that are almost unbearable so I went into my local Shopper’s Drug Mart and I did not know but they were having an event night in their beauty section and a representative from Vichy was working and as I was browsing the sections she asked me if I needed help and I told her about my dry spot problem and she said this was Vichy’s absolute thickest face cream and it should do the trick and so far so great. *This moisturizer is also fragrance free so great for people with sensitive skin.

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream

This is the same sample I mentioned in my Skincare Routine Post and I am loving it. My under eye’s get so dry but not anymore thanks to this.

Avene Soothing Moisture Mask

OMG I LOVE THIS. This mask is an essential wintertime product. You literally slather it on; leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then tissue off any excess (don’t rinse). It leaves your skin so hydrated and supple. Definitely worth the splurge.

Lips

Nivea Lip Butter in Vanilla Macadamia

This smells amazing and it is good because it is light enough to use during the day while still being hydrating and preventing chapped lips.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Intensive Lip Repair Balm

Again, mentioned this in my Skincare Routine and it is phenomenal for night time, it rehydrates my lips in the night and I wake up smooth.

Hope you found these tips helpful!

Till Next Time...

Stay Happy!!!
