Now on to the review...

Today I am coming to you with a first impressions review of the new CoverGirl Flamed Out Mascara. I recently picked this up at the drugstore because I was running out of my beloved Lancome Hypnose Star and wanted to see if there was a cheaper mascara that I would fall in love with.

Product Info: As this is a drugstore product it varies in price depending on where you go but in Canada this runs at around $6.00 to $8.00.

Consistency: I found the consistency of this particular mascara to be on the dry side and while this is not necessarily a bad thing, it can result in clumpy-ness if too dry and I did find that to be the case with this one. It definitely left clumps on my lashes and on the brush.

How I Use It: When I used this mascara for the first time I only applied one coat but the second time I used two coats and I found that was better to create the full effect with the mascara. I also curled my lashes with the Chanel Eyelash Curler before application.

My Thoughts: I definitely think this mascara has a little too much on the clumpy side and the formula was so dry that it needed two coats to even feel like I had mascara on. Also, I didn't feel like the mascara held the curl of my lashes well. Like I mentioned above, I curl my lashes with an eyelash curler beforehand and that usually helps elongate and give curl to my lashes but it didn't feel effective with this mascara over top.

Overall: I honestly wouldn't repurchase this mascara. I feel like there are so many other mascaras at the drugstore that do a better job, even mascaras by CoverGirl like their LashBlast or Clump Crusher. I would stick to those and skip out on the new Flamed Out mascara.

Have you tried the Flamed Out mascara? What are your thoughts? Also, what is your favourite drugstore mascara? Share in the comments below.

  1. Good review! I've never been a fan of COVERGIRL mascaras - it seems to be their biggest weakness in terms of products.

    1. Yes, I agree. Even though lash blast is better I still find myself gravitating to Loreal or Maybelline for drugstore mascaras.
Congratulations on the win! Send us a DM on twitter and I will ship it out on Friday! :)

    2. SO bad, but I commented on this post and didn't even realize I'd won! I shouldn't be reading before I've got some caffeine in me. Thanks ladies!
