Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? Book Review

I have wanted to read a lot of the books that have come out recently by some of the fiercer women of comedy (like Tina Fey's Bossypants). However, Mindy Kahling's is the first of many future humour books that I will be blazing through, I'm sure.

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) is the perfect read: half witty comedy, a quarter memoir, a smattering of random thoughts, topped with a smidgen of sensible advice. Despite all of her hilarity, Mindy has her moments of wisdom and authenticity which really make the book seem like your quirky, down-to-Earth, but really funny best friend is telling you a long, disconnected story that will all make sense in the end (maybe).
If you've watched Mindy's television show, The Mindy Project, where she plays a doctor trying to figure out her personal and work life amongst the the crazy characters at her work, her book reads very much like the show. The same sense of humour, great timing, and off-beat rants shine through in written form.

My only complaint about this book is that it was too short, I devoured it in a day or so. This is perfect beach/vacation/coffee shop reading right here: you'll look very hip toting this chic looking book around, as long as you don't mind disturbing others with your constant chucking.

I'm really looking forward to more books from Mindy and to read more from the other ladies of comedy in general, like Judy Greer's I Don't Know Where You Know Me From.

What's the funniest book you've read lately? I'd love to hear in the comments.
